Cee-Lo is Just “Old Fashioned” (Listen & Download)

Goddamnit. If I was one of those Make A Wish kids my wish would be for Cee-Lo to start rapping again, but the prospects of hearing him once again rip apart a mic are getting dimmer with every great sung song he releases. "Georgia" was a dope record, "Fuck You" might end up as my pick for best pop/r&b record of the year, and now his new single, "Old Fashioned", is another undeniably quality record. (Warning: If you refuse to listen to anything but lyrical rap you might as well just skip ahead now.)

Thanks to my dad, I was raised on classic soul and r&b (The Temptations, Smokey Robinson, Donnie Hathaway, etc.) and "Old Fashioned" is some of the closest we've come to reviving that early soul legacy since Raphael Saadiq's recent retro movement. I've your soul hasn't already shriveled and turned to dust, you'll be feeling this. I promise. Will Lo's upcoming album "The Lady Killer" contain any rap? I seriously doubt it, but we'll find out for sure on November 9/

(Side note: Along with Redman, Cee-Lo has one of my favorite "Cribs" episodes ever, mostly because it turns out that 90% of his diet consists of cereal. He's got a small room in his house devoted entirely to cereal. Now that's baller.)
