So, Talib Kweli's working on this new "Prisoner of Conscious" album, which seems like an obvious admission that he feels trapped by the expectations of rap nerds who fell in love with his music in the Black Star days.

I get it Kweli, it must be frustrating for people to want you to make your old shit, but....sorry, I want you to make your old shit. Your old shit was a classic. Which is why "Art Imitates Life" instantly became one of my favorite tracks of the week. As I've written before, I played "Train of Thought" until the CD was too scratched to play, then I bought another copy. (You see, there used to these things called "CDs" that people "bought".)

So yeah, having Rah Digga on this record really brings me back, and having Black Thought on this record really brings me back, and all the dope ass motherfucking rhyming really brings me back.

"Prisoner of Conscious' is due to drop sometime before "Detox", and this isn't slated to be on it. In other words, don't sweat it. For now, just enjoy...
