Quick Hit: Adidas NBA All-Star AR 2.0’s Are Surprisingly, Subtly Dope

If you follow me on Twitter, then you’d know that while most females are wondering what their significant others will be buying them on Valentine’s Day, my tweets are divided between basketball, music and sneaker updates. So I’m pretty sure you have an idea as to what I’m about to say. The 2012 NBA All-Star Weekend will soon be underway and I couldn’t be happier. I’m so excited that I’ve decided to write a post on a special edition NBA All-Star Weekend Adidas Original.

On February 2, Adidas Originals introduced the NBA All-Star color way edition of the AR 2.0’s. Inspired by the iconic Forum Mid basketball silhouette, this mid-cut sneaker features a modern off-court look; clean vulcanized sole, patent leather overlays and canvas cross-strap. To tie into NBA All-Star in Orlando, gold star detailing has been added to the sock-liner.

Usually, I tend to stray away from any kicks that sport patent leather, but these are so neat that I couldn’t help myself (for a couple of reasons). First off, whenever I think of blue and orange, my Knicks automatically come to mind. Secondly, I prefer a shoe that would not only be able to stand on its own, but compliment whatever outfit I choose to wear it with. Too often do I come across color schemes that scream, “Hey, look at me!” and in my eyes attention should be given not sought after. Making a statement is cool, but sometimes it should be subtle and the AR 2.0’s accomplished that with minimal effort.

Because of its “special occasion”, I assumed the sneaks would be a bit pricy since it could pass for a novelty. Instead, fellow sneaker connoisseurs can cop a pair to rock with their jerseys, while they watch the game for $95 at Foot Locker.
