It’s That Middle Finger to the Law Music: Ab-Soul “Christopher DRONEr” Posted by Nathan S. on 08/07/13 | Filed under Ab-Soul, TDE

You know what's fucking crazy? Until this new Ab-Soul joint dropped, I had kind of forgotten about Christopher Dorner, which is insane considering that was literally one of the biggest/most shocking stories in U.S. history. A cop goes rogue and starts assassinating people? Yeah, it's kind of a big deal. But since then we've been hit with so many other "biggest story ever"s that Dorner already feels like old news. Forget a 24 hour news cycle, we're on a 24 minute news cycle.

Anyway...

Ab-Soul's new "Christopher DRONEr" is exactly what I needed. Sometimes you just need to black the fuck out and get back in that middle finger to the world mindset. I'm sure after I listen to this another ten times the political messages will start to sink in, but for now I'm more than happy to just turn this up as loud as it will go and go pistachios over that "New Slaves" reference he drops.

On a closing note, holy sweet baby jesus, are those the bells from "NFL Films"? Did Willie B. sample "NFL Films", or is there a root sample with those bells that both Willie and "NFL Films" used? (Most likely the latter.) Either way, this is two of my favorite things - TDE and "NFL Films" - in one song. The only thing that could have possibly been better is an accompanying Rosa Acosta stretch video. I think it's going to be a good day.

Enjoy...
