50 Cent & Soulja Boy Get Close (Real Close) On New XXL Cover

50 Cent Soulja Boy XXL Cover
I don’t know about you all but I’m really, REALLY starting to lose my faith in Hip Hop magazines. Just a few weeks ago XXL magazine had me doing a double take when they included a lengthy feature on now notorious Hip Hop groupie Kat Stacks. I mean there are so many up and coming and even established artists who could have benefited so much from just a half a page in the mag. But noooo they had to go and feature that troll instead. Moving right along, I eventually got over it of course only to be let down by the magazine yet again.

I’m referring to the homo-erotic, yes homo-erotic, 50 Cent and Soulja Boy cover. At least with this magazine fail I’m getting a few hearty laughs in. But come on! I know everyone at XXL saw this cover and thought it was fruiter than an oversized bowl of limited edition tropical Fruit Loops. On the XXL cover a shirtless Soulja Boy is grabbing his crotch while 50 Cent lovingly places his arm around the man-child.

I can’t place any blame on Soulja Boy though because he’s clearly being held hostage. Oh, you didn’t see that? 50 Cent with a t-shirt on his head hiding his face? I see no other reason why a grown ass man would you be wearing a t-shirt on his head. And I think 50 may also be holding some sort of gun in his right hand. It’s a miniature gun of course that’s why it’s so easily hidden by Soulja’s scrawny arm.

Hilarious cover aside, true fans of Hip Hop could really care less about 50 Cent and Soulja Boy. So even if the cover featured an amazing (and less lovey dovey) portrait of the two rappers shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz it would still be a fail.

Want some video of the photo shoot? Probably not. Here is is anyway.

Pause.

Love him or hate him, anyone who's ever come into contact with 50 admits he's the smartest, most calculating mofo they'd ever seen, so it's clear what's happening here. Fiddy's using Soulja Boy to keep his name relevant among the teen set, and Soulja's obviously no smart enough to realize he's just getting used for publicity. I almost feel bad for SB, he's a boy playing a grown man's game.
