I don't fully understand how 2 Chainz seemingly went from that dude who was dumb enough to call himself Tity Boi to one of the most sought after guest features in the game, but I kind of get it. In the age of the viral artist Chainz is consistent, entertaining and well-branded. These days that seems to be about all it takes.

But will anyone give a shit about his solo Def Jam debut "Based on a T.R.U. Story"? (aka Enough of a shit to actually spend money on it?) Even with Kanye West backing him? I find it hard to believe, but I've been wrong before. I will say though that new single "Birthday Song" won't be the track that turns him into a solo hitmaker. Beyond a few lines on Yeezy's verse, is there really anything memorable here.

Also, someone needs to slap Chainz for saying "me and Ye, we're like Snoop and Dre." Mofo, you're only like Snoop and Dre in the sense that you're all black. Anyway....we'll see how many units the man can move solo on August 14. Until then....
