So Kanye cheated a little bit on this week's "Good Friday", so what? I mean, I would definitely be a little pissed if Kanye pulled out some two-year-old joint featuring him, Swizzy, Tony Yayo and 117 other dudes, but this "Don't Stop"? This shit is, pardon my language, so motherfucking dope I could care less how old it is.
Quick back story: A couple years ago Kanye, Lupe and Pharrell were all on the "Glow in the Dark" tour and decided to start messing around and recording music under the name Child Rebel Soldiers, even going so far as to release a couple joints ("Everybody Nose" and "Us Placers"). Predictably the supergroup never really worked out because of the usual label politics and individual schedules/projects, making Child Rebel, essentially, a hip-hop cocktease.
Well apparently Yeezy ran out of time this week because he dug back into his catalog and pulled out "Don't Stop", a joint Lupe revealed was just the three of them messing around. Well goddamn then guys, keep messing. That might just be the best Pharrell verse I've ever heard (maybe some Kanye ghostwriting?), and the same goes for Lupe, who spits a verse sicker than anything we've heard in months from the man. And then Kanye finishes it off strong - these guys bring out the best in each other. Shame there's no f**king way we'll ever get an album out of em.
(Side note: Atlantic gave Lupe's "Lasers" a March 2011 release date, which is the kind of thing you do when you don't have any intentions of releasing an album but want the people boycotting outside your offices to shut up.)

kanye said the crs album may still roll out, maybe this was to see the reception of the three working together, if everyone goes nuts over it like they should maybe they finish it

Damnit. This track is incredibly dope, but I was sooo hoping for a new CRS project. But it's two years old? Well then... I'll just keep listening to this track, Everyone Nose Remix, Us Placers, and hope.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I'd be shocked if a CRS album ever came out. Kanye, Pharrell and Lupe are all on different labels, and the negotiations alone would so complex it'd shit down any serious talk of a full collabo album. I'm sure all three guys would love to work together more, but, to be a little corny for a minute, it's show business, not show friends.
Label politics trump music yet again.

Unfortunately Nathan, you're right. Each of their labels are greedy and if this (this being the fabled CRS album)was the biggest Hip-Hop since, well ever each would something if not everything. The we'd probably have to sit through massive lawsuits, taking away the fun of the album.

@Randy Mercer Sad but true. The negotiations would be endless. In a perfect world they'd all split it three ways, but Def Jam will argue that since Kanye's doing production as well he should get a larger share, Pharrell will claim the same, Atlantic will be pissed that means Lupe's not getting a third, etc. etc. etc.
