Bullshit Numbers (The Yung Berg Edition)

It was like the Fails of the Week gods looked down upon me and smiled when I saw the following message pop up in my inbox:

“Yung Berg is back to doing what he has always done best; making hot singles for the ladies. Hot on the heels of ‘Sex ‘N The City’ which made its debut on WSHH to huge numbers and is now in fresh rotation on MTV Jams, comes ‘72 Hours.’ The video debuted yesterday at the top of WSHH and is already showing 1,795,964 plays.”

After I had recovered from a nearly crippling bout of laughter I realized this is actually the strongest evidence yet that World Star Hip Hop, that paragon of journalistic integrity, completely makes up its numbers. You couldn’t get 2 million views of a Megan Fox mixtape in 24 hours, let alone a video from a dude whose only hits in the last five years have come from Maino’s hand. (Let me take a moment to applaud myself for that line.)

Strangely, it looks like ‘72 Hours” is no longer on WSHH, but it has been officially released on YouTube and has…..752 views. Pardon me for a moment:

And just in case you still had any doubts, the aforementioned “Sex ‘N The City” is still on SWHH and it’s showing….ready for this….10 million views! 10 fucking million! That means he’s claiming the entire population of New York City, plus a million people, have watched his painfully cliched video in just a few days.
