A lot of these issues on the weekend start from Twitter. While reading my timeline, something popped up that went along the lines of “Funk Flex Calls Out 2Pac, Says “Fuck 2Pac & I Don’t Care That He’s Dead!”
My mouth curled up in the Cam’Ron face because I doubt Funk Flex would even sling that type of venom. If you watch the whole video, it’s Flex trying his hardest to give more respect to somebody he cut for in The Notorious B.I.G. Now, Flex tried to tell them why he was mad all those years ago at B.B. Kings and somehow it got on WSHH.
First off, I have to commend myself. I’m watching a WSHH video for the umpteenth time and haven’t suffered a brain hemorrhage (I think I need a 4Loko & A McRib to balance the equation out). I don’t know if I should defend Flex for his rant or try to pull his card since that’s what this column is known for – hoe checking the way Ice Cube did before Hollywood made him Hollywood.
The thing is, you can’t even exactly determine what Flex says because his own yelling hurts the process of “decoding” this. Yes, he says Pac’s name and obviously some mention of dick riding but you can’t tell he exactly said what the title on WSHH implied. If people want to check out disses without knowing anything about them – it might be their business but it’s a business that will leave them stuck out in the long run.
It’s like thinking one verse and a line trumps an entire song in terms of dissing. There’s a reason why “Ether” sticks out to people a little more than “Takeover” because folks invested the time to listen to the whole thing. So much so that it became a term commonly used in hip-hop slang for completely roasting somebody. You ever hear somebody yelling “Damn son, you got takeover’d!” No, it sounds redundant.
Same for reading bait headlines on a site when you can’t even tell what the hell is going on when you try to investigate. To date, Flex hasn’t responded clarifying his statements on that stage but everyone has lobbed grenades at him. I won’t. It’s pointless considering the source.
Now, let me try to figure out why the hell this Kanye West album is getting more high marks than any release since "Illmatic" before somebody grabs this post and says – “BRANDO HATES MBDTF! SAYS KANYE CAN SUCK A FISH DICK!”
UPDATE: Funk Flex went on air to talk about the "Fuck 2Pac" controversy (via MissInfo).

This is why people don't say interesting shit anymore. Words get taken out of context and so everyone just keeps their mouths shut and say bland stuff. Lord knows Flex can be a bit much, but whatever he said, at least he actually speaks his mind.
