Rap’s Next Big Thing? Travi$ Scott ft. T.I. “Animal” (Listen & Download)

It's impossible to predict how these things will play out, but Travi$ Scott has all the hallmarks of that new guy everyone's suddenly talking about, so we might as well start digging in now. Here's the basics about Mr. Travis. He's originally in Houston, but spending most of his time now in Atlanta. He spells his name with a dollar sign, he's a producer/singer/rapper, if you've heard him before it was probably on "XX", and as much as any one record can be responsible for blowing someone up, that record might just be "Animal".

It's by no means a guarantee, just ask , but grabbing T.I. for a guest verse tends to get you noticed, especially if you pair that with some truly crazy production. Seriously, that's some damn good production. But as a rapper, I'm only lukewarm on Scott from what I've heard so far. At the very least "Animal"s rhyme work isn't nearly as creative as the beat would hint at, and while Tip's solid as always, it feels like he could have dropped that verse on nearly any record.

So yeah, pretty much the definition of wait and see, although I'm willing to bet the hype around Travi$, for better and worse, will start seriously building after this. Stream and download of "Animal" below the video for "That Bitch Crazy", which I'm including to give folks a bigger sample of his work. Enjoy, or not:
