Iggy Azalea is in the “Murda Business”, Also the Over-Hyped Business (Listen)

Weekend Edition: RefinedHype's most popular stories this week, running from Saturday to Monday morning.

People only seem capable of comparing white NBA players to other white NBA players. For example, you'll read 100 "Kevin Love is the new Larry Bird" before you read one "Kevin Love is the new Charles Barkley", even though the latter is much more true.

By the same token, we only seem to be able to compare female rappers to other female rappers, so as tempting as it is to compare Iggy Azalea's first official single, "Murda Business", to Azealia Bank's first official single (especially considering the weird name similarity, and this), I'm not going to do it. Instead, I'd say that Iggy's more like the next.....

....Lil B. She's undeniably interesting; there's no way you can't not check her out. When I first heard "This little dude is doing songs about Ellen Degeneres" curiosity along was enough to get me to press play.

Similarly, you know you're going to check out a model-looking white chick from Australia throwing down street raps - there's a reason marketing-savvy people like T.I. have brought her on board. That shit's a "must listen", a valuable commodity in today's over-saturated market.

But is there something in her music that makes me want to come back for more, something beyond the initial appeal of hearing someone like her make music like that? From what I've heard so far, nope. Not even close. We'll see if RefinedHype Nation agrees.....
