Did The Weeknd Fall Off With His Latest Release “Initiation”? (Listen & Download)

For awhile now The Weeknd was really on a roll with the dope releases, but all that came to a screeching halt thanks to his latest release "Initiation." To say there's a lot going on on this song would be quite an understatement. The entire song consists of The Weeknd's voice morphing from abnormally high to abnormally low. Thanks to the likes of auto-tune I think we've all become accustomed to voice manipulation in music, but it all sounds pretty awful on this song.

I'm sure The Weeknd was aiming for something different on "Initiation" in fact the description on his blog describes the song as just that, "something different," but it's just not working. Since the production on "Initiation" is pretty nice I think the song could have actually had a chance if The Weeknd wasn't so keen on being "different."
