The Kickdrums Overcome Mediocre Casey Veggies for Dope “Thieves in the Choir” (Listen & Download)

Alright, I officially need to star paying some serious attention to The Kickdrums. Their last release, "Want My Blood" was punch a kitten in the face level aggressive, managing to pull off one of the better hardcore rock and rap beats you'll hear. And then this new "Thieves in the Choir" goes in a completely different direction, getting haunting and mellow right where "Blood" got angry. Damn, you can't pull off versatility like this without some real talent.

The only shame here is that Casey Veggies verse is pretty weak - an instrumental like this deserved far better. I can just say that without sounding like a hater, right? As far as I'm concerned it's an objective fact. Not all verses are made equal, and this one's just ok at best.

Regardless, with shit like "Thieves" on it their upcoming "Follow the Leaders" album will be damn good - and if they can recruit some better rappers, it had a real shot at being uber dope.
