Swizz Beatz,  Maino, Jim Jones, Jadakiss & Joell Ortiz “Keep It Rockin’” (Listen & Download)

Why did Maino get headlining credit? I don't know either - he probably hung Swizzy off a balcony by his feet Shug Knight style

Monster Mondays? Monsta Mondays? Monsta Mondayz? I Don't Really Give a Fuck Days? Whatever you want to call Swizz Beatz' weekly series, there's no denying that the man has been making some noise, and not all of it has been atrocious (see "King Tut"). This new "We Keep It Rockin" joint though? This makes me a little queasy.

Maybe because I live on the west coast, or maybe I just don't like crappy production, but Swizzy's "California Love" semi-remix sounds absolutely horrible. It's less a sample of the original and more someone drunkenly hitting the same three notes on a piano again, with a little Fatman Scoop throw in. As for the rhymes, Maino's fine (although "people out of town call be Brooklyn / cause I keep it Brooklyn" is just terrible), Beatz shows why he was a runner up for Worst Rapper of the Year, Jim Jones hopes no one remembers "Perfect Day" (and sacrilegiously quotes Pac), Jadakiss does what he does and Joell Ortiz of course comes through with the best of the bunch.

In case you can't tell, I'm not impressed.
