Supra Footwear x Prodigy Introduce “The Not So Infamous Pack”Posted by Ru Porter on 11/19/12 | Filed under Style, Sneakers, Prodigy |
By now hip-hop fans are well aware that Mobb Deep is currently on hiatus from recording music, but that isn’t stopping Prodigy from making any new business moves. The Blood Money rapper recently collaborated with SUPRA Footwear to produce two limited-edition sneakers. As part of an “Infamous Pack”, the designs feature two different silhouettes coined Backwood and Bandit. With the help of athlete Tom Penny, the latter is a spin on the pro-skater’s signature model -- a midtop boasting canvas camouflage and black ballistic nylon upper built on a white, lightweight cup sole. While the former is a work boot inspired hybrid showcasing tonal black/ grey nubuck suede with a lightweight and comfortable SUPRAFOAM midsole and rugged, rubber lug outsole.
Not sure why Prodigy chose to make the boot’s material all suede especially since the colder months see heavy rain and snow, (which can obviously ruin the sneaks) but in reference to the shoe’s colorways and styles, Prodigy states that the end result borrows cues from “throwback stuff of the 90’s”, and if I had to guess I’d say that the Infamous Backwoods very loosely resemble some Lugz athletic boots. And because the Backwoods appear to have the same kind of durability in the bottom as Timbs do, they’d most likely be ideal for walking in inclement weather conditions while the Bandits are more suited for everyday use.
Sneakerheads have the option of purchasing The Infamous Backwoods in four different color palettes including: black/brown, camo/white, black/white and black/turquoise/grey for $120, while The Infamous Bandits are available for $75 in black/olive, black/red/grey and camo/white. Though the aesthetics aren’t groundbreaking, I’d definitely agree that Prodigy’s Infamous Pack is a welcomed addition for anyone who’s trying to kick game this winter.
