Pharrell and Swizz Beatz aren’t the only Hip-Hop producers to partake in sneaker collaborations. SUPRA Footwear recently enlisted Just Blaze to create a limited edition Skytop II for his birthday (January 8). Those who follow the Jersey native know that not only is he a DJ and reality star, he is an avid sneaker collector so its only right that he would want to have his own design.

So what took him so long participate in such a venture? According to the former Roc boy, “I've gotten calls like this in the past, but I can't entertain them if it's not from a brand I don’t personally believe in or am not a fan of. Crossing cultural and stylistic lines while maintaining your identity is no easy task, but SUPRA manages to ride that fine line well. That being said, the Skytop has always been my favorite of the SUPRA designs, so the choice of which shoe to use was easy. I'm very excited about the collaboration and looking forward to the next one.”

The shoe has a grey and purple reflective leather upper on a vulcanized sole with white foxing and a purple pinstripe. It comes with a custom hangtag and sock liner art. And unlike his predecessors, Mr. Smith’s signature shoe is extremely limited -- only 413 pairs were created, sequentially numbered above the stash pocket on the inside of the tongue.



Available at select retailers, the kicks run for $150 a pair. And while the naysayers might not be sold on the price, I have to say these joints are pretty official – So official, (that I have a pair on reserve, since I couldn’t attend the launch) it’s completely sold out online and selling rapidly in stores.
