For those of us - rappers, bloggers, producers, publicists, etc. - who have turned the culture we loved into a job, it can often now be hard to separate the business from the culture. It's almost impossible for me to hear a song anymore without thinking about how hard it must have been to clear that sample, or a crazy story I heard about how a rapper screwed his previous manager when he signed a major label deal.

Maybe that's why I dig listening to Rapsody so much - her shit takes me back to the days when I first fell in love with hip-hop. No gimmicks, no marketing strategies, just dopeness. So fittingly Rapsody's "The Drums", a track about taking it back to the essence, has been one of my favorites from her "The Idea of Beautiful" album.

And now that the track comes complete with visuals? Oh fucks yeah, enjoy...
