First and foremost: "Roll up on spikes I'm Pokemon." Yep,
Pusha T, one of the true originators of coke rap just compared himself to
this. I'm just saying.
Anyway, "Amen" is one of those songs that's so close to being the complete banger I want it to be, but falls just short. The
Shawty Redd beat knocks, but he's done better (like
this).
Kanye's verse is decent, but compared to "
Ni**as in Paris", which is now one of my favorite ignorant Yeezy tracks of all-time, it's just alright. And
Jeezy does his thing, bonus points for the A-Team reference, but his thing's just not good enough to really elevate this.
In other words, "Amen" is that good looking girl at the bar near closing time that you're trying to convince yourself is an absolute dime so you can feel better about scooping her up. Follow that? Either way, I'll take new music from Pusha over 90% of the garbage that gets released daily. "Fear of God 2" drops on August 23 - I'll be copping that hard white....if they sold hard white on iTunes.
