In retrospect maybe it was a little naive, but I really had high hopes for Nicki Minaj and Kanye West's collaboration, "Blazin". You see, I've been listening to a lot of "Dark Twisted Fantasy" and so by extension I've been listening to a lot of "Monster", so by extension I've been listening to Nicki absolutely murder that verse, and so when I pressed play I was subconsciously thinking, "Minaj plus Yeezy equals f**king dope". At the very least it could be another "Roman's Revenge", which wouldn't be such a bad thing." After I pressed play? Eh, not so much.
It's not that "Blazin" is bad, really, it's just far more of an openly pandering to radio track than I was hoping for. The beat's riding, in a softly accessible way (that sample's on the tip of my brain, could it be the Simple Minds' "Don't You Forget About Me"), and while Nicki's flow is precise, it's nothing special. Plus the punchlines are wack. "Hope you can take the Heat like Lebron"? Way to be the 4,000th rapper to use a version of that line. And as for Ye's verse? Kanye shrug. I'm giving it a giant eh.......
I was excited for her album since when 'Your Love' started getting radio success. Now she gets the *Kanye post-Matt Lauer interview shrug*. She'll still sell a million but idk why but the more I hear from her the less dope she becomes.

Nicki sounds like Diggy at times. That first fury of lines was what made me think it.
I wish she'd drop that split-personality crazy voice approach. It got her in the door, but if she wants longevity, she'll have to drop it. Jay-Z started his career with flashy fast vocals, but once he was established he used his normal voice.
The hook was weak, but Nicki sounded good on it.

Her pause flow is so overdone. I mean, just stop, please. Nicki's flow can be cool, but lyrically she falls weak for me.
Overall it's not a bad song, but it's definitely underwhelming. Did Kanye produce this? Doesn't sound like it.

Agree with everything above, and I'm still laughing about Set_Gecko's line. Unfortunately it's only a matter of time - don't Fantasia yourself man. We need you around.
