Shockingly I have a new leak from a major artist that isn't Eminem. Originally recorded during the "Rebirth" sessions, Lil Wayne's "I Hate Love" is an experimental rock/rap hybrid that was clearly too weird to actually make it onto the album. (My bad, this is a "Carter IV" leftover, not "Rebirth". It just sounds so "Rebirth"ish my brain couldn't stop from associating it.) And when something's too weird for Weezy that's really saying something.
Here's the thing. Everything about this song, from the quasi slam-poetry verses to the auto-tuned vocals, make me think this is terrible. And yet...in a weird way I kind of dig it. In contrast to the cookie cutter "rock" we got on "Rebirth", this actually takes some chances and shows come musical vision. Or maybe I shouldn't have put that Jack Daniels in my coffee this morning, let's see what RefinedHype Nation thinks:
Download "I Hate Love" Directly
On a closing note, if the consensus in the poll is for "Terrible" I'll go back and add a "Terribleness" tag. I'm here for you people.
Even the title seems so Rebirth-ish. This isn't bad, but it's not great. It would've stood out in the pile of clichés that was Rebirth though.

garbage. And it IS probably from Rebirth days. He probably thought it was good enough to make the album until he sobered up. You of all people must know that these rappers are feeling themselves a little too much

I liked the first verse a lot. Perhaps it's just my yearning for a non-punchline/ more-than-1-syllable rhyming Wayne that made me like it. If he would apprentice under Mike Shinoda he could hone this rap/rock thing. It still doesn't quite work.
