Damnit, I Actually Really Like This Kelly Rowland ft. Lil Wayne “Motivation” (Listen & Download)

I was completely ready to make this an (almost) entirely lyrical rap day on RefinedHype and post that Freddie Gibbs joint when the homey DJ Z asked if I'd heard the new Kelly Rowland single, "Motivation" featuring Lil Wayne. More out of curiosity than anything I pressed play...and when I still had the record repeat ten minutes later I was forced to admit I really liked it. Damnit.

You know what, I'm not apologizing for diggin "Motivation". Jim Jonsin usually does far more pop beats, but here he's crafted a purely r&b joint that often borders on straight soul. The same goes for Kelly's vocals - she's apparently dropped that club/techno thing she was doing and gone back to her roots. And you know what? I don't mind this Weezy verse at all. It's the kind of slow flow he failed with so badly on "Shades", but here it works. So fuck it, I'm a "Motivation" fan. Hey, I have a baby daughter at home for a reason.

On a closing note, if I ever do a "R&B Lines That Make No F**king Sense" column I'm including "When we're done I don't want to feel my legs." I'm all for intense sex, but actual paralysis might be going a little far.

CPT	"I'm all for intense sex, but actual paralysis might be going a little far." I just laughed so hard at that Nathan, lol. I love Kelly, I'm a stickler for an underdog, so when she puts out quality like this i jump on it.

Nathan S.	Just came back and listened again after a few hourse - yep, still really like this. Has a real slow burner soul appeal. Damnit, I'm so sold on this.

matza	Kelly's voice really shines on a smooth beat like this - great job! and contrary to my expectations, i also think that wanye did quite well on this one. i will definitely put it on my playlist, this month has already brought some nice songs to daylight!
