Since a lot of folks have been complaining about the music Kanye's been dropping for his Good Friday series, which I think for the most part has been dope, I've got no doubt that some folks will crap themselves with excitement now that they've really got something to hate on - namely, the leak of Kanye West's heavily auto-tuned, eclectically sampled, cross-genre new record 'Lost in the World".
First, the info. If "Lost in the World" sounds familiar it's because we first heard the verse during Kanye's media tour, but I don't think anyone saw this coming based on that a cappella. After a heavily auto-tuned sample of Bon Iver's "Woods" the record kicks into a decidely "808s & Heartbreaks"-esque drum beat and some emo raps from Yeezy, all interspersed with clips of Gil Scot-Heron's spoken word poem "Comment #1". (By the way, anyone read that depressing as fuck "New Yorker" piece about Heron? He's basically a broke crackhead. Fuck.)
In other words, it's exactly the kind of record people have been begging Kanye to stop making, myself included. But here's the crazy part. Maybe it's just because I'm hypnotized by those drums, but against my initial reaction I found myself actually digging this. It makes me anxious about what Ye's upcoming, tentatively titled album "Dark Twisted Fantasy" will sound like, but as a single, audio experiment, at the very least I'm interested.
Am I the only one who doesn't hate "Lost in the World"? We'll find out soon. (Download links and player below.)
Nothing to hate, this is dope. Kanye is a true artist, so many different sounds.

I mean I can see where people will think this could be a "boundary" pusher, but beyond the beat and a few non-auto-tuned verses it's pretty awful. At some points I think there's entirely too much going on and while I completely dislike the track it's not something to get worked up over.

I've compared this whole Kanye 808's & Heartbreak stuff to Linkin Parks Minutes to Midnight. It's a completely different sound than of that which made them who they are, but in reality the music is still dope music. People just don't like change.

I actually really like this track, I liked 808's as well, this is basically an amalgham? of auto-tuned Kanye and classic Kanye. The beat isn't as sleek as Devil in a New Dress or So Apalled but it's nice though and should have had Cudi do the hook. I don't think it's awful nor do I think it's the best track out there from Ye but better than a lot of things out their.

I'm not even joking, I really like this track. And I liked 808s too. Do I want this to be the only track like this on the album? Yeah, and I think this WILL stand out as a pretty unique (as in one of its kind) track on the album, and I'm sure Kanye has some reasoning for it. And since he mentioned loving Bon Iver's "Woods", it's even predictable.

I forgot to mention above, but this will basically be this album's "Stronger"- heavily based on a sample for inspiration, not a "normal" rap track by any means, and will be a colossal hit.

While I'm obviously on record as having said I actually really like this, I have to say tdotraza's out of his mind if he thinks this will be a colossal hit. It's dope, but as a general rule records with extended Gil Scot Heron "America has raped my people" sections don't chart well. It's just kind of a thing.

Well I was pretty sure they'd cut that entire section out. We're missing a verse here at the end so I'm assuming this is unfinished.
