Ghost’s “Swallow (Remix), or How I Learned to Stop Worrying & Love Dubstep (Listen)

Thanks in no small part to the homie Chuckness I've been trying to broaden my cultural horizons and school myself on the EDM/dubstep etc. movement that's currently taking over the world, and a good portion of hip-hop while its at it. (Case in point, Jamie XX's 'Rolling in the Deep Remix".) So while in the past I wouldn't have bothered to press play on a track like the Ghost dubstep remix of Mr. J. Medeiros' "Swallow" I forced myself to take a listen and....

...while I can't say I'm now a dubstep fan, I do get it. For those who need to catch the fuck up, Medeiros is a California rapper/artist turning out hip-hop I always find myself comparing to some golden era Rawkus in terms of lyricism and honesty, and Ghost's gritty electro breakdowns give "Swallow" a dark and aggressive side that wasn't there before. So while the prospect of simply sitting and listening to dubstep for an hour still feels daunting, I do get what all the hype is about.
