There's obviously a number of movies that are based on Hip-Hop culture, boast Hip-Hop heavy soundtracks, etc. but there really aren't too many decent films that are about rappers. So we decided to build off of Pepsi' "The Best 20 Movies About Music" list and compile a quick selection of rapper-centered films that are worth reopening your Netflix account, taking a trip to your nearest Redbox, or heading to Blockbuster for.

"The Carter" Documentary


There's no debating that Lil Wayne is one of the most fascinating emcees of all time, and the time when he was recording "Tha Carter II" was when he was at his absolute peak. "The Carter" documentary his life roughly before and after the release of his platinum album, and remain the closest we've gotten to the inside of Weezy's brain.

"Notorious"


The first biopic on the late Notorious B.I.G., "Notorious" detailed the life and death of the Brooklyn rapper. It's always hard to depict the life of such a legend, but the consensus seems to be that "Notorious" pulled it off nicely.

"Get Rich Or Die Tryin'"


This 2005 film borrows its name from 50 Cent's debut album, and loosely depicts the rapper's turbulent upbringing in Jamaica, Queens. Otherwise known as the movie that made everyone say, "Hey, 50 Cent can actually be a pretty good actor."

"CB4"


On the more humorous end, there's "CB4." Starring the likes of Chris Rock and "New Jack City" notable Chris Payne, "CB4" is a comedy about a fictional rap group of the same name. Just call it the rap version of "This Is Spinal Tap". (Hey, there's another music movie!)

"Dave Chappelle's Block Party"


Consisting of mostly concert footage, and of course Dave Chappele being hilarious, "Block Party" features appearances from a plethora of Hip-Hop acts including Common, Mos Def, and Kanye West. It's also arguably one of the best block parties known to man.
