Keri Hilson and recording artist
Akon are putting their star power to good use thanks to their involvement in a new clothing campaign that will benefit AIDS research. The two artists have teamed up with H&M for the retail companies “Fashion Against AIDS” campaign.
As part of the campaign Akon and Hilson will appear in ads wearing specially designed H&M clothing. The clothing will then be available for purchase with 25 percent of the proceeds to be sent directly to the non-profit organization Designers Against AIDS.
“I’ve had a lot of friends who’ve been in the situation where their friends and family have been affected by HIV,” said Akon. “As I travel the world, I see how much HIV affects people. It’s not like we have a cure for HIV, we only have prevention.”
It’s a great look to see artists taking part in a cause like this and it’s an added plus that the clothes in the collection are actually pretty fly. Kudos to H&M on that. Other artists taking part in the campaign include Selma Blair, Penn Badgley, Sky Ferreira, Nikki Reed, Ginnifer Goodwin, and the Scissor Sisters.
Be on the lookout for the collection when it hits stores on April 26.
