Check Out This DJ Premier Beat Kanye Rejected (Listen & Download)

Here's the difference between rap fans, and rap nerds: rap fans only care about what is, rap nerds care about what could have been. More specifically, if I said I had a DJ Premier beat that Kanye turned down for his modern classic, "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy", a rap fan would shrug. But a rap nerd would kill their own grandmother to hear it. Well, knowing RefinedHype Nation like I do, there's going to be a lot of dead grandmas out there today.

Back when Yeezy was soliciting beats for "MBDTF" Primo sent this one along, which he was calling the "JJ Beat", but Ye passed - I'm assuming because it's too stripped down and soulful for the epic album he was planning ("Devil in a Blue Dress" became the album's only real soul sample based beat). To top it off, according to Premier's blog, Bun B also considered snatching this up, but passes as well - it's actually kind of hard for me to hear the Bun Beater on this one. You know who'd kill it though? Yung Joc. No, I'm sorry, I'm just fucking with you. J. Cole - Cole should definitely freestyle over this.
