Charles Hamilton Drops New Mixtape From Mental Institution, Seriously (Listen & Download)

Charles Hamilton may just be the most inconsistent, loved/hated rapper in the game right now - when he's on he's one of the best, and when he's off there's no one worse - but his schizophrenic output makes sense given his actual, well-recorded mental health issues.

To summarize, Hamilton was dropped from Interscope for "erratic behavior", began putting out material at an incredible rate (including one mixtape he swore was his last ever), and then checked himself into the NY Presbyterian Mental Hospital last week after suffering a breakdown. All of which makes his new mixtape, the lamely titled "segahamilton.blogspot.com", the first hip-hop album ever released directly from a mental institution. Per usual, some of the tracks are dope, some are terrible, but it's a fascinating listen given the man's current circumstance, which, by the way, he describes like this:

"Basically my stay here[NY Presbyterian Mental Hospital] is like identical to my stay in the industry. As far as being the new guy in here having to deal with politics & people trying to control you. The critics would have to be the doctors and the rounds [medicine guys]. So you can say this is like an experiment to see if the industry is really like an asylum or if I was the one bugging. Some say the Industry is like High School but it’s just like a [mental hospital]."

Um, yeah, ok then Charles.
