Even With “Writer’s Block” Brother Ali Sounds Dope (Listen, Download & Watch)

Between Jean Grae, Schoolboy Q and now Brother Ali today has become "I don't give a fuck about mainstream success, I'm making the music I want to" day on RefinedHype and I'm more than happy about it. When you're an albino Muslim from Minneapolis the mainstream rap lane isn't exactly open to you, so it's no wonder that Ali's made some of the more honest and original hip-hop of the last five years, including new single "Writer's Block".

Not only do we get some dope rhymes from Ali and yet another boom-map meets soul inspired beat from Jake One, but Ali also semi-unintentionally made every blogger scream "Amen!" with his opening line: "I ain't trying to be one of those dudes who make 100s of new songs and none of em are good." Amen.

Consider me officially stoked to hear Ali and Jake One's collaborative project "Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color", coming sometime before "Detox".
