Last month Pharrell Williams’ Billionaire Boys Club released a video lookbook showcasing its spring/summer 2011 looks. The video lookbook consists of an interesting mix of looks that one might wear and a few that’ll definitely have you scratching your head, wondering “Are they friggin’ serious?!” And that combination of both tame and bizarre definitely warrants a video breakdown.
0:07 – I’m really curious as to what exactly that triangular piece on the belt is.
0:09 – When I mentioned that this lookbook consists of a few looks that’ll have you scratching your head this is exactly what I was referring to. Thanks to those three buckle straps this looks exactly like a life vest. I mean it really only works if you’re going to some hip yacht party and you want to be safe yet fashionable. Aside from that it doesn’t look practical and I really hope the vest isn’t orange because that’ll only make things worse.
0:11 – This look is very urban Dick Tracy.
0:14 – You really can’t go wrong with a hoody and a polo shirt. It’s a bit safe, but at least you aren’t rocking a life vest.
0:22 – I’m really gonna need someone to explain this look. It just looks like he’s wearing trendy Army fatigues. I’m a bit confused.
0:25 – Hmm...so at first we had a life vest, then we had Army fatigues, and now a poncho?!! Men, don’t wear ponchos! What’s really going on Pharrell? Is the Mexican cowboy look what’s really good in 2011?
0:30 – I’m actually not mad at the modern fanny pack. It looks like it might feel a little awkward on, but at least it doesn’t look bad. Side Note: What exactly would a guy put in his fanny pack?
0:38 – I really like the letterman jacket and the shorts, but together they aren’t really working.
0:41 – For some reason Billionaire Boys Club really knows how to put out a great letterman jacket. Next season, stay tuned for their revolutionary letterman jacket poncho!
0:57 – So they definitely should have had the model wearing the life vest holding the flair. It only makes sense.
