Failure is the fog through which we glimpse triumph”, says Aldrich Killian, a former nerd turned successful scientist, whom Tony Stark snubbed over thirteen years ago. Fast-forward to the present, and Killian has a new look, as well as a budding organization called A.I.M. (Advanced Idea Mechanics), where he spends his time developing the Extremis virus, an enhancement drug that regenerates missing limbs from wounded war veterans, while giving them increased strength and nuclear firepower.

Aldrich’s quote not only signifies his accomplishments over the years; it also suggests that all the missteps in the soulless "Iron Man 2", will be accounted for this time around. That’s not to say "Iron Man 3" isn’t without any flaws, but since the flick is definitely still worth your popcorn money, here are 10 reasons you should see "Iron Man 3" this weekend:



1) The storyline is easy to understand. Most superhero franchises hop from one installment to the next as if the events of the previous pictures never existed, but thankfully IM3 picks up where “The Avengers” left off, so you don’t need to watch part 1 or 2 to figure out what’s going on.

2) Tony Stark proves he doesn’t need a metal suit to be Iron Man. The coolest part of this trilogy is that the billionaire-genius is stripped of his high-powered gadgets and forced to use everyday appliances from a local hardware store to create some makeshift weaponry that’s instrumental in helping him save the world. Think Kevin McCallister meets MacGyver.

3) Less is more. Our superhero isn’t the only focal point here – The supporting cast members all play pivotal roles in the story, which make the film exciting and multi-dimensional.

4) The Mandarin is more interesting than the trailers reveal. Ben Kingsley, who portrays the villain is more than just some Osama Bin Laden-looking fella who blows sh*t up. He’s 1 part actor, comedian, teacher and international terrorist, which make him the most enjoyable character in the screenplay.

5) Get ready for a fun ride that’s full of surprises. The writers and directors use the damsel distress trope to grab your attention, but you’ll never guess which of the characters gets rescued at the end. That’s right, Don Cheadle isn’t the only sidekick to lend Stark a hand when he needs it most.

6) It doesn’t seem to end here. Though Robert Downey Jr. has expressed plans to hang up his armor after “The Avengers 2”, character wise he’s so much more emotionally invested in Iron Man 3, that a follow-up to the three-quel wouldn’t be too far-fetched -- since Pepper and Stark’s relationship has evolved to something long-term -- so a script exploring marriage and parenthood could be in the works.

7) Your girl will love it. If your lady friend’s been pressuring you to spend more time with her, take her to see Iron Man 3 and I guarantee she’ll enjoy herself as IM3 appeals to a wide-variety of genre-lovers. That means you get all the action, while she gets to see a less obnoxious, less arrogant, Robert Downey Jr. be sensitive to the needs of his female counterpart. It’s a win-win that’s bound to get you laid when you get home.

8) here’s a good amount of eye candy for you to drool over. Scarlett Johansson makes a cameo as the fiercely independent Black Widow, while Rebecca Hall (who plays brilliant an attractive biologist) proves that unlike Megan Fox, you can have beauty, brains AND good acting skills.

9) The action sequences are bigger, louder and much more thrilling. Ever wondered if anyone can be saved from a burning 757 in mid-air? Or if a human can survive a 50-foot fall? Thanks to screenwriters Shane Black and Drew Pearce, you’ll be able to find out.

10) As cliché as this may sound, "Iron Man 3" is the best one yet. Everything about this series has been taken up a notch – from the character development, to the technology and even Iron Man’s suit capabilities. And as an added bonus, despite the run time being over two hours, Black’s brisk direction makes it all tie up rather quickly.
