Dr. Dre Releases Mildly Epic “I Need A Doctor” Music Video (Video Breakdown)

Throw in two parts bromance, a little product placement here and there, and a pinch of sci-fi edge and what do you get? How about the music video for “I Need A Doctor” featuring Dr. Dre, Eminem, and singer Skylar Grey. Any music video that totals over seven minutes and features two of Hip Hop’s biggest names usually warrants a video breakdown and “I Need A Doctor” is no different.

0:00 – First off, with a time of seven minutes and 37 seconds there better be some epicness in this video.

0:18 – All these random scenic shots are starting to make this feel like a video lookbook for some hipster apparel brands. Only thing missing is a Diplo beat and half a dozen skinny jean wearing male models.

0:26 – Wow, he just took it wayyy back.

0:35 – Wait is that Dr. Dre? Why was he wearing an extra flamboyant version of hospital scrubs meets a ninja costume?

0:51 – Why all the reminiscing?

1:05 – I honestly never knew that Dr. Dre had a wife and kids. Interesting…

1:30 – 2Pac, “California Love” FTW! Yes!

1:43 – Dr. Dre please don’t pull a “Charlie Sheen” on that cliff.

1:58 – Woah! I did not expect that at all. And how in the hell does a car jump into midair like that? It looks like someone threw it. Oh wait, I get it. After this accident he’s gonna need a doctor, clearly.

2:29 – Skylar Grey is looking like an extra from the sequel to 300.

3:29 – I mean they couldn’t find Dr. Dre a table he could lay on or something? Was letting him lay on a bunch of ropes really the better option here?

3:34 – I’m starting to get somewhat of a Frankenstein vibe here.

4:07 – Wow, it looks like she’s…umm never mind.

4:20 – Gotta have the HP product placement.

4:31 – What the hell? Why is he submerged in water now? I don’t think that’s really gonna help an unconscious person.

4:44 – Well, at least they put him in a wetsuit. That was considerate of them.

4:56 – Man, Eminem is hella emotional right now. Chill! Dre will be okay.

5:59 – I really think it’s the Beats by Dre that brought him back to life.

6:10 – Is he wearing muscle padding?

6:30 – This is the ultimate bromantic song.

7:09 – I really hate to say it, but Dr. Dre’s verse is the most lackluster part of this song.

7:25 – RIP Eazy-E. Nice ending.

For everybody that didn't get the CHarlie sheen reference he often times tosses a car off a cliff just for good measure... and he's usually drunk/high out of his mind. Well done, sir.

There is Epic product placement in this video, except from Ferrari, anyone think that's the same Ferrari from "Forgot about Dre"? HP loves Dre, Casio loves Dre, Ferrai probably fond of him though like I said before.
Okay no, it's not but it is the same model only a different color hmm.

That was Skylar Grey right? She looks different from the photos I've seen and Dre looks like a Goddamn superhero. This video ultimately feels like "In Da Club" video motif.

iMg	SERIOUS product placement in this video, and it was super obvious too. My goodness, I'm buying a Gatorade now. Anywho, Eminem was the star of this video, and that chick who was floating around singing Skylar's part wasn't Skylar Grey, which I found odd cause I think Grey could've pulled that off. Good video, very funny breakdown.

Young Mo Fo	lmao I had to play back 4:07 like four times before I saw it. Skylar shoulda been more obvious in the video. It seems like theyre building some mysteriousness to her. Barely see her, and she writes songs for everyone else.. She might build a good career soon enough.

Sonic Flood	Holy shit, this was surprisingly tearjerking. Especially the last part with Eazy-E. Bromance all the way. Love the emotion Em brings out in his words. Both Alex and Skylar are in the video as the ER doctors. Alex da Kid is the guy next to Skylar.

Sonic Flood	And I think the 4:31 part with the submersion in water is like one of those flotation tank things that was ripped off from the Empire Strikes Back and their bacta tanks. I like the 'I Need a Doctor' double-meaning connotation. As in like, we both need the doctor too. Get it, doctor? DOCTOR Dre?

legoo	its a little strange that one of dres son has died, and he says RIP to eazy. "On August 23, 2008, Young's second son, Andre Young Jr., died at the age of 20 at his mother's Woodland Hills home. The coroner determined that he died from an overdose of heroin and morphine."

Danielle Harling	Wow, I really thought that chic floating was Skylar Grey. It resembled her somewhat and I really didn't think they would have someone else sing her part when she could do it. Weird. I almost forgot that Dre's son died. He didn't get any kind of mention in the video. Again, weird.
