The fact that MTV decided to air their annual Video Music Awards during the Democratic National Convention and President Obama’s speech was clearly a sign of the mediocrity that was the 2012 VMA’s. In its nearly 30-year existence the VMA’s have served as a night of musical highlights, but over the past few years things have gone slightly downhill.
