Sam Hurd was a not particularly great wide receiver for the Chicago Bears. He was also apparently a not particularly good drug dealer, getting arrested this week for (allegedly) attempting to buy large amounts of weed and cocaine from a federal agent.

As Chicago radio station 679 The Source reports; “According to the criminal complaint, Hurd told an undercover Homeland Security agent Wednesday night that he and another co-conspirator were already distributing four kilograms of cocaine a week in the Chicago area, but he needed more. He was seeking five to ten kilograms of cocaine and 1,000 pounds of marijuana a week to distribute and was willing to pay $25,000 per kilo of cocaine and $450 per pound of marijuana. That adds up to as much as $700,000 of drugs each week.”

Despite a NFL contract that will pay him an approximately $1 million a year over the next three years, on top of a $1.3 signing bonus with the Bears, Hurd was reportedly becoming one of Chicago’s larger dealers. Apparently someone’s been listening to too much Clipse.

Not only is risking spending the rest of your life in jail while making millions to play football retarded, Hurd wasn’t exactly the Avon Barksdale of the game. This July cops pulled over a car carrying $88K in cash in a duffel bag which belonged to Hurd. Police know it belonged to Hurd because he….fucking contacted them trying to get the car and the cash back. Seriously. That really happened.

Understandably suspicious of anyone driving around with duffel bags full of cash, the police started monitoring Hurd, eventually nailing him after setting up an alledged drug buy between him and a federal agent. Nice work Sam. I’m not even remotely happy you’re locked up, but I’m not exactly surprised.

Oh, and on last note, Hurd’s lawyer is David Kenner, best known for successfully defending Snoop Dogg against murder charges way back when. I have no idea if that’s a good sign or not.
