Fails of the Week: Breezy’s F-ed Up New Ink, Holographic Bankruptcy & More

Posted by Nathan S. on 09/14/12 | Filed under Fails of the Week, Humor

Holographic Bankruptcy is Real Bankruptcy

In retrospect if anyone should have been skeptical about the Tupac hologram it was me - after all, I did name the site RefinedHype. I’ll admit that I got swept up in the moment - at the time I thought holograms were going to change music. It felt like only a matter of time before we’d be going to John Lennon and Biggie hologram duet concerts.

Instead, it looks like we can include holographic music in the category of “cool future shit that’s probably never going to happen”. (Back in 1950 everyone was convinced we’d be living on the moon by 2012…yeah, not so much.)

We never saw another high profile hologram after Tupac, and now Digital Domain Media Group, the company that created the hologram, has filed for bankruptcy. That means the hologram craze lasted just slightly longer than anyone caring about Lil B, but slightly shorter than anyone caring about Kreayshawn.

Who knows, maybe in 2030 holograms will be everywhere, but for now it looks like the idea’s as dead and buries as, well, Tupac.
