Rich White People Do Stupid Shit Too

Just so we don’t start thinking that rappers are the only ones involved in photo-related scandals, earlier this week U.S. Representative Chris Lee announced that he was resigning his office. Why? I think you can guess from the pic above.

Long story short, Mr. Lee had been (allegedly) flirting with a woman via a Craiglist “Women Seeking Men” ad, claiming that he was a divorced lobbyist, and then decided to up the ante with the shirtless pic, apparently not aware of what the Internet is. When confronted about the pic, Lee first predictably went then denial route:

“The Congressman is happily married,” said Lee’s spokesman. “The only time he or his wife posted something online was to sell old furniture when they changed the apartment they keep in DC.”

When that didn’t work - because, you know, his Craigslist responses were there for the world to see - he went to predictable back-up number two, the ol “my account was hacked” routine. When it was pointed out that fucking no one would hack his account to send a shirtless pic to random Craigslist chick, he resigned.

“I regret the harm that my actions have caused my family, my staff and my constituents. I deeply and sincerely apologize to them all. I have made profound mistakes and I promise to work as hard as I can to seek their forgiveness.”

And with that I’d like to welcome Chris Lee to the Tiger Woods All-Stars, comprised of rich and famous men who make idiotic mistakes when cheating on their wives. Congrats Chris, you’re in elite company.
