The presence of women at Hip-Hop shows is becoming somewhat of a rarity these days. Maybe it stems from the lack of female artists in Hip-Hop or maybe women just aren’t comfortable at shows. Although it might seem like a boys club, Hip-Hop has benefited greatly from a number of female artists including Queen Latifah, Roxanne Shante, Jean Grae, and many more.

Type Of Show: The Hip Hop Open Mic

What NOT To Wear: Heels, although cute these almost never work at a Hip Hop show. They give that “I’m trying way too hard” feel and your feet will absolutely hate you at the end of the night. Also, clothing that’s too restrictive is a no-no. If you’re feeling the music you want to move to it and that might be a little hard in those painted-on club jeans.

What To Wear: A pair of comfy sneakers or boots. Keep the clothes basic: basic colors, basic patterns, but knock it out of the park with killer accessories. A pair of leggings gives you the comfort of wearing sweats minus the unnecessary bulkiness. And a comfortable pair of skinny jeans nicely accentuates a pair of fly kicks.
