The Kickdrums Give Up “The Ghost” (Mixtape Listen & Download)

I'm sure if I had waited a week The Chuckness would have picked this up for his series, but since I've been enjoying the hell out of it all day I didn't want to keep y'all in the dark. As we've discussed numerous times around these parts, there's a way to combine rock with hip-hop (The Roots) and a way not to combine rock and hip-hop ("Rebirth"). Brooklyn by way of Cleveland duo The Kickdrums are definitely in the former category, as their new mixtape "The Ghost" proves.

Like The Black Keys, this isn't rock trying to be hip-hop, or vice-versa, this is just completely its own thing, an organic new style of music. But for our rappity rap purposes "The Ghost' also happens to include verses from Freddie Gibbs, The Kid Daytona, RZA, Scarface, U-N-I and more. Enjoy.
