Stat Quo & Lauryn Hill Pay Tribute to “The Hustle” (Listen & Download)

Breaking news: Fugees alum and acclaimed solo artist Lauryn Hill has emerged from semi-seclusion to make one of her rare guest contributions to a a pre-album mixtape track from ATL rapper Stat Quo, of having-his-LP-epically-delayed fame. Another piece of breaking news: I just told a complete lie - but it would be exciting if it were true, right? Though "The Hustle," the latest leak off 2010, is actually based around "World Is a Hustle," an unreleased Hill cut from '08, the "collab" gels surprisingly well. The organic, piano-led instrumental backdrop sets the stage for some reflective rhymes from Quo, and Lauryn even kinda-sorta uses the rapper's stage name in her lyrics.

Pointless note: despite having read the original record's title moments before, I managed to mishear the central line as "The whole world is a high school" the first time around. Which makes a surprising amount of sense in context. Anyway, 2010 drops today, paving the way for the arrival of Statlanta on June 22 - uh, hopefully. Keep your fingers crossed.
