The upside of being part of Kendrick Lamar's TDE crew is that you get a lot of attention you otherwise wouldn't, but the downside is that you're constantly referred to in relation to Kendrick. It's far too early to figure out if Schoolboy Q will end up being Lloyd Banks (former sidekick turned legit solo player) or Murphy Lee (former sidekick turned forgotten sidekick) but if the man keeps turning out tracks like "There He Go" his future will start looking a lot for Banks-ian and a lot less Lee-esque.
There's just no denying that Sounwave beat, and while he doesn't have anything approaching Kendrick's lyricism (see, there goes the inevtiable Kendrick comparison) Q does have a unique flow that's all his own. I"m sure we'll hear more in the lead up to his upcoming "HABITS & Contradictions" album, but "There He Go" alone is enough to get me to at the very least give the project a listen when it drops....before "Detox".
(Note: I'm too lazy to do the lower case / upper case thing for KiD CuDi Kid Cudi's name so I'm not doing it for Q either.)
