Peruse Peru @ Pio Pio

If finger-licking tender rotisserie chicken and carafes swishing with sangria in a lively environment are your idea of a good time, make your way to
Pio Pio. One of New York’s best not-so-well-kept secrets, the Peruvian restaurant has blossomed into a mini-chain with spots all over the city. Aside from the juicy chicken served whole and simmering in spices, you can sample other South American specialties -- including
jalea (sizzling fried seafood) and assorted
tamales (pockets of soft corn stuffed with meats and sauce). For an affordable night out, order the matador combo to split -- in addition to the chicken Pio, you’ll get to savor the crunchy tostones steeped in butter garlic sauce, as well as the the fresh avocado salad. Don't forget to slather everything in Pio Pio’s famously fiery green sauce.
