Something’s Familiar About This N.E.R.D. “Nothing On You” (Listen & Download)

There's something familiar about this new N.E.R.D. single "Nothing On You" but I just can't place it. Hmmmmm......oh yeah, that's right, the title's only one letter different from the former number one record in the country! Now, of course, on a musical level N.E.R.D.'s version isn't anything like B.o.B.'s uber-smash "Nothin' On You". In contrast to Bobby Ray's sugary sweet hit in typical Pharrell fashion this is a club banger that pays tribute to the female posterior, but I'm legitimately shocked about the title. It's one thing if there's another song with a similar title, but this is only one letter off! And it's not just one letter off any song, it's one letter off a number one single! Pharrell and the guys had plenty of time to change the title, I'm sure they could have coming up with something else, so I can only imagine they don't give a fuck.

In related news, be sure to look out for N.E.R.D.'s upcoming singles "Empire States of Mind", "Love the Way You Lay" and "Oh Lets Do It", as well as their album "Nothing" (that's not a joke, it's the actual album title), finally dropping on November 2. And if you're surprised that I'm obsessing over a tangential detail, you clearly don't know me.
