I know it sounds like heresy, but there's really not that much of a difference between Justin Bieber and Drake doing a song like "Right Here" and Chris Brown and Nas doing a song like "Mirage". One's just further along the spectrum than the other. In both cases they're just examples of how much even the most poppiest of pop and the most rappiest of rap are slowly but surely merging. After all, who's sitting more on the line between R&B and hip-hop than Chris Brown? The beat on "Mirage" just as easily could have been a "hip-hop" instrumental.

Yes, the old school hip-hop head in my shuddered a little to see Nas on a track with Breezy, but it's really not that big of a deal considering the times we live in. After all, the man was just in a video with Nicki Minaj. Nas is at a point in his career when he can do purely dope shit like "Accidental Murderer" and throw down a guest feature on some R&B shit and not sound like a "sell out". Good for him, he's earned it, and lord knows that Kelis divorce wasn't cheap.

So yeah, whatever. "Mirage" sounds fine, and I'm sure Brown's upcoming "Fortune" album will be pretty popular. Frankly, I don't personally care much. I'll just wait for Nas' upcoming "The Good Life" "Life is Good" album. As long as there's not a Chris Brown feature on there I won't complain.
