“This Time” Melanie Fiona & J. Cole Might Just Have A Hit On Their Hands (Listen & Download)

Weekend Edition: The best of the past week on RefinedHype, running from Saturday to Monday morning.

Canadian singer Melanie Fiona has just released the second rap collab from her upcoming album "The MF Life" and this one features none other than the sideline kid himself, J. Cole. Off the bat, while I do like Melanie's song with B.o.B I am glad that "This Time" is a bit more soulful and a little less pop than "Change The Record." And quite frankly I feel like these are the types of songs that seem to fit Melanie the best. Now that Rita Ora is on board with Roc Nation I think it'll be a safe bet to just hand all the pop songs over to her.

I was a little nervous for J. Cole and his verse on "This Time" especially since he was given what felt like 2.8 seconds for that verse on Beyonce's "Party." Thankfully though Cole has a bit more time to shine on Melanie's track and he does just that. His verse is pretty dope and it fits the vibe of the song pretty well. I'm really digging "4 A.M." but "This Time" might just be my favorite track off of "The MF Life" thus far.
