Today’s “Way Better Than You Think” Selection: kGb’s “The Road” Mixtape (Listen & Download)

I'm sure it's not exactly a title he's super stoked about, but around RefinedHype Nation kGb's become our leading "guy you've probably never heard that 99% of the time is wack, but is actually pretty dope" candidate. He's obviously young and still learning the ropes, from mixing to production to marketing and everything in between, but there's just no denying the man can rap.

If an intro like that's enough to get you to actually check some shit out, then I highly recommend kGb's new "The Road" mixtape, which finds him rhyming over some of Flying Lotus' crazier instrumentals. It's far from a perfect album, but the joy of discovering a real emerging emcee amidst the sea of wackness is almost enough to get me to start listening to open every email I get from rappers I don't know. (I said almost, relax.)
