I don't want to overshadow how dope I truly think Cincinnati up-and-comer Kandid McFly's new mixtalbum "The Opening Act" is, so I'll try to keep the "Back to the Future" references to a minimum, a difficult task considering it was the seminal movie of my childhood. Mayor Goldie Wilson references aside, McFly has quickly emerged from a complete unknown to one of the more engaging young emcees out there. Creative, on his grind and completely honest at all times, "Opening Act" is as revealing a look into the mind, and mic, of a struggling rapper as you're going to hear. (Maybe I should invite him to do a guest post for our Your Favorite Rapper is Poor series.) Heavy praise, I know, but I've had this on repeat for 24 hours now and still going strong.

Hosted by Mr. Peter Parker (no, not that Peter Parker), "Opening Act" contains 14 fresh cuts from McFly, with all production coming from Minneapolis beatmakers 8 Attack and DJ Corbett putting in the sole guest appearance.

"Hey Chuck, it's your cousin Marvin. Marvin Berry! You know that new sound you've been looking for? Check this out..." Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

bigL	I honestly believe that this tape is better than vizzy zone, and this is coming from a true vizzy fan who listened to 40 days & 40 nights, a square in the circle, and Everybody's Nobody through and though. But Mcfly is all of the sudden my favorite new rapper.
