Freddie Gibbs Has a New “National Anthem (Fuck the World)” (Listen & Download)

Freddie Gibbs National Anthem Fuck the World
Regular readers know that Freddie Gibbs has quickly become one of my favorite new emcees. He's easily the best rapper on the XXL Freshman list, and this track and this track and this track are so dope they should be controlled substances. Not content to be merely a rapper, Gangsta Gibbs is officially declaring himself his own sovereign nation today, complete with his own "National Anthem", or more specifically, "National Anthem: Fuck the World". True to form "National Anthem" pairs juxtaposes Gibbs hardcore, surgically precise flow with a symphonic beat to impressive effect. On the real, I don't see how you can claim to love real hip-hop and not be a Gibbs supporter.

That hook is pretty bad though. There should be some sort of hip-hop panel that clears hooks before they're put out. Like the FDA, but instead of making sure medications are safe, they make sure hooks aren't wack. Let's make this happen.

To clarify, "Str8 Killa" the mixtape (which doesn't have this track) is supposed to drop later today, and "Str8 Killa" the EP (which does have this track) will be dropping August 3 via Decon Records.

Sorry, tags. If you want the tag free version you'll have to hop on iTunes for now. I'll update with a clean version asap.

i think its pretty good. the chorus isnt that bad to mee cuz its an anthem. u got to have a simple and memorable chorus for a song to be an anthem.

No disrespect to J. Cole, he's the man, but on pure rhyming, I'd take Gibbs over him. Gibbs just has that next level in him.
