F**k You, Emilio Rojas Will Do It “On My Own” (Listen & Download)

Emilio Rojas has always been one of the most intense and gifted lyricist we'd head in a minute, but he often sacrificed dope music in the name of dope rhymes. Impressively, the young NYC emcee's not only managed to continue to put out tracks that are just flat our more listenable than his early work, but he's done it without sacrificing any of his credibility on the mic. Case in point, "On My Own".

Now I can't tell you how this track came about, but I can tell you my guess. Producer WillPower's been working almost exclusively with singer Nikkiya lately, just check out their ill "SPEAKHER", and so he grabbed her to throw down some of her unique vocals on top of his Outkast-esque sounding beat (this could have even missed the cut for "SPEAKHER"). Emilio heard the beat and hook, figured it'd make for a dope fuck-the-haters anthem and boom, here we are with one of Rojas' most complete cuts ever.

Of course I could be way off, but I doubt it. Either way, enjoy, and be sure to cop his upcoming "Breaking Point" mixtape which, despite my suggestion, will not feature a "Point Break" inspired cover. Come on, how ill would that have been?
