Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg & Akon Smoke Some “Kush” (Listen & Download)

These things always unfold like steroids scandals in baseball. First, all parties involved deny, deny, deny. Then, after some more evidence comes out, they admit they were involved, but not like that. And then, finally, they come clean - yes, yes I did it. Right now we're largely in the deny portion of the program when it comes the Dr. Dre's new leak, "Kush". The people over at Aftermath are so far refusing to admit "Kush" is a "Detox" leak; although Snoop hinted otherwise on his Twitter. In a few hours we'll get word that yes, it is official, but it's unfinished, followed closely be either an official release, or Dre completely scraping the record (the scrap option is very much in play).



As far as the "Kush" itself, I find it hard to believe that anything we hear off "Detox" won't be at least mildly disappointing. Not even Rosa Acosta poon is worth waiting over a decade for (I reserve the right to rescind that statement), but it's still good to hear some of that vintage, Dre production (those piano lines are instantly recognizable), Snoop Dogg of course sounds at home (that will.i.am line is hilarious) and Akon comes through with a solid hook. Plus, could that be Nate Dogg on the bridge? Ultimately, it's far better than "Under Pressure" - hopefully this means "Detox" will drop sometime before the coming of the apocalypse.

UPDATE: Dre just went on Big Boi's L.A. radoi show to confirm "Kush": “It's crazy because it wasn't supposed to be released,” Dre said. “But unfortunately with technology you can't stop it, but “Kush” wasn't supposed to be the lead because I didn't want people to think that is what the album is about. “Kush” is actually the only track talking about weed and smoking on the entire album.” Plus he says "Detox" is dropping in December. Yeah....sure Dre.
