Buddy, Kendrick Lamar & Pharrell Williams Are One Tough Trio On “Staircases” (Listen & Download)

A Pharrell-produced track that features a Kendrick Lamar verse? Now that's the stuff [Hip-Hop] dreams are made of. So it should come as no surprise that this latest track titled "Staircases" from Pharrell's mentoree Buddy which happens to feature a guest verse from Kendrick Lamar is pretty amazing. It seemed like in his early years Pharrell's production on songs all sounded somewhat the same, but that has definitely changed in the past few years. Pharrell is steady producing bangers like "Staircases" and they all sound nothing alike.

Off the bat the song is enjoyable. The beat is oh so smooth and I was impressed with Buddy's hook and verse on "Staircases." And that Kendrick Lamar verse? Now that is truly the icing on the cake.

My only thing is with the release of "Staircases" I can't help but wonder if it's a good look for an artist most people aren't familiar with to release a song that features someone as huge as Kendrick Lamar. Of course the song is going to get loads of attention due to the fact that it features Kendrick Lamar, but does the artist then get overshadowed due to such a huge feature?
