Relax, Big K.R.I.T. “Got This” Dope Hip-Hop Thing on Lock (Listen & Download)

As I just wrote, perhaps my favorite moment from SXSW was during Big K.R.I.T.'s show when I looked over and saw Brother Ali singing along to every word of "Rotating My Tires". That moment was completely symbolic of K.R.I.T.'s ability to cross barriers, to get the "conscious" heads to drop their guard and just vibe out, and the smoke and ride crowd to slow down and think.

So while new single "I Got This" lies far more on the smoke and ride end of that spectrum, all but the most uptight factions of RefinedHype Nation will find themselves nodding their heads. This production is absolutely undeniable, Krizza's just on another level behind the boards, and while the hook's obviously basic, it's exactly the kind of thing a crowd will lose their minds to at a live show.

Put another way, I'm sure this isn't what Def Jam wanted as a lead single to K.R.I.T.'s upcoming "Live From the Underground" album, it's far too regional. But Krizza's continuing to make the music he wants to, fuck these haters, no matter where they come from, and as long as that's true I'll be driving the motherfucking K.R.I.T. bandwagon.

"Live From the Underground" is slated to drop this summer. Don't hold your breath, but if it actually comes out....
